Alice Rawsthorn has written an interesting and rather provocative article entitled “A Distant Bauhaus Star” in the Arts & Design section of The New York Times (online) which looks at the one-time Bauhaus ceramicist Margarete Heymann, her life and work, and the gender politics of Walter Gropius’ Bauhaus. All this is worth keeping in mind as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) (NYC) opens an important exhibition entitled “Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity” in which one will not find any of Heymann’s creations…
