Frank Gehry’s 8 Spruce Street (NYC) Residential Tower
image: Piotr Radinski for The New York Times
Fred A. Bernstein has written an interesting short article entitled “New Gehry Tower Prepares for Renters” in the Real Estate section of The New York Times looking at the possible trials and tribulations of renting apartments in the Frank Gehry-designed 8 Spruce Street (NYC) (the tower was briefly known as Beekman Towers) residential building with its “undulating skin that ripples like the Statue of Liberty’s gown, but in stainless steel rather than copper.” Including several quotes from Gehry on construction choices and costs. Gehry, himself, says that he doesn’t plan on renting an apartment there…
Some very nice photos in the slideshow, here.
