Architecture: Mitikah Office Tower by Richard Meier Architects: “..the slender 34-story volume rises above a transparent and translucent building base, whereby the anchoring lobby, positioned to be visible from all approaches to the site, is exposed to the retail plaza and adjacent commercial space. located at the southwest corner of master plan, the building offers the opportunity to develop an architecture that mediates between commercial core and nearby residential community, and acts as visual transition between av. rio churubusco, an elevated highway, and pedestrian boulevard of retail plaza..” Photos and images don’t do justice to the written description, which is really quite interesting..

Residential Architecture: Shou Sugi Ban Addition by BYTR Architects: “..an extension to a dwelling..the angled roof-profile of the single-storey structure creates a sculptured form which contrasts the minimal 1950′s brick home that is attached. the highest point culminates with a skylight oriented to flood the kitchen with natural daylight. windows along the perimeter are located to respond to the interior functions, placed at heights which respond to views from a seated position at the dining room table or side views to the yard from the sink and countertops..of high priority within the firm’s work, sustainable materials and techniques were implemented within this residence..” Sustainable, exquisite contrast, charm..

Residential Architecture: Connemara by Peter Legge Associates: “..in the rural countryside, the vernacular structures are constructed with stacked stone, similar to the low lying stone walls which run through the bucolic landscape of rolling hills. serving as the main entrance, a void between the staggered footprints are linked with a transparent enclosure allowing views towards both the irish sea and the twelve pins, the inland mountain range in the distance. mimicking the roof pitch of the original houses, the steel and glass framed enclosure contains the vertical circulation, a stair formed with concrete treads which are secured within the adjacent exterior walls..” Wonderful..
