‘Entre-deux’ by Konstantin Grcic for Azucena
Wallpaper* Magazine has done it once again, offering us their own discerning and fabulous edit of the best of the extravaganza that was this year’s Salone del Mobile 2011 in Milan in a 218-image-strong truly excellent slideshow,
here.
As Wallpaper* puts it…
Once again, Salone mania was unleashed and the design world honed in on Milan. This year’s fair, which finished Sunday 17th April, mobilised hundreds of thousands design disciples off their Danish-modern couches back home and through the giant fairground’s gates, as well as key events across the city which included Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines’ Hermès Pavillion, the Rossana Orlandi gallery, Ventura Lambrate and, of course, the Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition at the Brioni House.
Didn’t make it round to all the events? Fear not. We snapped away during the week to show you all the wonders the design world has to offer for 2011…
And take a look at all the rest of our Salone del Mobile 2011 Milan posts, here.

image: Wallpaper* Magazine/Google Maps
The indisputably perceptive Wallpaper* Magazine has once again blessed us with its wondrous, and eagerly awaited, Salone del Mobile 2011 Milan (Milan Design Week) preview, including Google Maps of all the areas pinpointing all the marvelous things they recommend you absolutely must see. They’ve also offered up a great mosaic of some of the best to be seen in Milan, with descriptions, links and website addresses.
And they don’t stop there, of course, as they have also made available an excellent app for the iPhone afficianados amongst us.
Could one possibly ask for more?!

The Moet-Hennessy-PAD London prize-winning ’Fragile Future Concrete’ chandelier by Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta of Drift, for Carpenter’s Workshop Gallery
image: Wallpaper* Magazine
Malaika Byng has written a nice little article entitled “Pavilion of Art & Design London 2010″ for the marvelous Wallpaper* Magazine, looking at the ” rich and enjoyable exhibition” of design and art featured at this year’s PAD. With works dating from 1860 to 2010, there’s no “flood of new products” nor the frenzy of Frieze, but rather a richly satisfying diversity of styles, materials and creative ideas. Though the prices may be beyond most of our budgets, the beauty of the pieces exhibited is well within our reach.
Very nice slideshow, here.
And a fascinating video of Random International’s sound-reactive ‘Swarm’ light for Carpenter’s Workshop Gallery, here.

Titled ‘Vacant NL’, the Dutch pavilion highlights the potential of temporary vacant government spaces.

The marvelous Wallpaper* Magazine has published an interesting, and snappily written, article by Ellie Stathaki, Jonathan Bell and Emma O’Kelly entitled, clearly enough for all of us, ”Venice Architecture Biennale 2010″ which looks at, right you are, the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale, its projects, ambiance, Asian participation, and, let’s say, goings on.
Includes an, honestly, excellent slideshow of no less than 62 images, here.

Michael Reyes has written an interesting short article entitled “Architecture report: letter from South Korea” for the wonderful Wallpaper* Magazine looking at the World Design Capitol 2010 (Wallpaper* Magazine article and slideshow; World Design Capitol official site, here), and ultra-dynamic design city, Seoul, South Korea. Moving and shaking with numerous private, residential, commercial and cultural design projects Seoul is something to see. Start with this slideshow, showing finished, in-construction, and projected works on a scale from urban-micro to urban-mega, from architects OMA/Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, ChaePereira Architects and others.
