* Architecture: Spiral Gallery by Atelier Deshaus

Posted by the editors on Monday, 5 March 2012

Architecture: Spiral Gallery by Atelier Deshaus: “..Using a spiral is to give the different ways of “open” and “close” between the ground floor and upper floor: the ground floor is back towards the courtyard and slightly lower than the ground, while the upper floor faces outward to the open landscape. And the interior staircases on the both sides of the spiral accomplish the system of the circle of spaces, which also provide the complete experience of a constantly commutative cruise between the “open” and “close”. The alternate space of the different floors strengthens the different ways to view in a visual form. Here, the way to view is exactly the way to use the building..”  Stacked glass and concrete spirals, astounding natural light, interesting conception..

Architecture: Administration Building of the North Shanghai Gas Company in Jiading by Atelier Deshaus: “..Corten plate is selected for the façade of the space, and the interior courtyards are decorated with bamboo plate. In the meanwhile, the main office space uses fair-face concrete with bump pattern coming from the horizontal templates in the process of concrete pouring. This enhances the distinction between corten plate and bamboo plate..”  Diverse materials and textures, interior courtyards..

* Architecture: Spiral Gallery by Atelier Deshaus

Posted by the editors on Sunday, 26 February 2012

Architecture: Spiral Gallery by Atelier Deshaus: “..Pure round is inserted by a spiral, brings into a primal space with a spiral interior flowing from the public to the private; most importantly, it gives a way to enter the building from the landscape: you can enter the annular interior space directly, or walk along the spiral external stairway to first get onto the higher place of the rooftop, and then go downstairs to the central courtyard to enter the building. The plot, angle and height of the view are continuously transformed, the spatial height is changed, and the introverted and open spaces are being mutually altered by the walking direction as well..”  Experiential..

* Architecture: In China: Kindergarten of Jiading New Town by Atelier Deshaus

Posted by the editors on Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Architecture: In China: Kindergarten of Jiading New Town by Atelier Deshaus: “..the architecture emphasizes the self-improvement, directly intervening into the site, and making a very clear juxtaposition of the architecture and the site. Compare with the open environment, the kindergarten acts as an introversive area. The architecture is divided into two general parts: one is the rational and efficient area, which is composed of 15 classrooms and a number of playrooms; the other is the intentionally enlarged transportation space, which is an atrium with ramp ways connecting with different storey..”  ‘Ample, and varied, windows offer abundant natural light into this multi-leveled educational facility..
