Residential Architecture: Parure House by Architects EAT: “..an exercise in abject darkness versus stark light; the compact crossed with the open, and closeted privacy against unabashed experiences of the exterior environment. Amidst the need to maximise space and storage – requiring full expansion to the boundaries of the land, windows (and also facade) were almost left to the wayside. Internal volume was the constant throughout the design. Punctuations in the external building fabric articulate the interior with strong exterior connections, even in such localised context..” Alterations, renovations and addition to a vernacular residence, intimacy, light, interior textural sensibility, lovely courtyard..

Residential Architecture: Linear House by Architects EAT: “..This wood and steel house..has a huge projecting roof that shelters a first floor barbeque deck..A circular skylight punches through the roof of the terrace..A concrete wall splits the building into two long narrow halves. The architects planned both of these sides using the visual metaphor of “beads on a string”, which dictates that rooms are arranged in a linear series..The project considers sustainability at a strategic level: space zoning, cross ventilation, solar orientation and thermal mass, as well as utilising rain water storage, solar electricity, insulation and double glazing to further enhance the sustainable outcome of the house..” Exterior wood cladding, interior rich in material sensibility, indoor/outdoor focus, lovely pool atop the garage..

Residential Architecture: Open House by Architects EAT: “..This project sets out to explore the physical and tactile language of building materials. Using timber as the basis we explored how particular materials responded to touch, sight, sound, weight and patina; while investigating and interpreting their interaction with natural lights and shadows..” Intriguing mix of materials, tones, textures, creative interior spaces, interior courtyard..

Residential Architecture: Elm & Willow House by Architects EAT: “..This project involves restoration and alteration to the existing Edwardian house, and the demolition and construction at the rear for a new addition. The transparency and openness of the new part is a deliberate counterpoint to the introverted Edwardian house with its dark central corridor. Our intention was to create an “Inside is outside is inside” environment, where inside and outside spaces were interchangeable elements. The project evokes a certain reference to the Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe..” Contemporary, light-filled addition to an existing Edwardian house..
