Design Milk
Design Milk, the really very good design blog, has published a post by Jaime entitled “Design for the Other 90%” which looks at the National Geographic Museum exhibition opening Wednesday, 28 April 2010 entitled Design for the Other 90%, a touring exhibition from the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum which takes a look at designers who are developing solutions that address basic needs for the vast majority of the world’s population not traditionally served by professional designers. Commendable and fascinating.

Designed by Greta Magnusson Grossman: Table lamp with one cone shade and one “Cobra” shade. Produced by Ralph O. Smith, 1948-49. Desk in walnut, plastic laminate and wrought iron. Produced by Glenn of California, 1952. “Good Design” chair in walnut. Produced by Glenn of California, 1952.
DesignMilk, the design blog that helps build strong (well-designed) bodies in 12 ways, has a nice post on the Swedish-American mid-century architect and designer Greta Magnusson Grossman coinciding with exhibitions of Magnusson-Grossman’s work at R20th Century Gallery in NYC and the Arkitecturmuseet in Stockholm, Sweden. An interesting story and some wonderful mid-century design.
