Architecture: Fazenda Boa Vista Golf Clubhouse by Isay Weinfeld: “..the Fazenda Boa Vista Golf Clubhouse by Brazilian architect Isay Weinfeld, which was named World’s Best Sport Building at the World Architecture Festival this week..Located 100 kilometres from São Paulo, Brazil, the two-storey clubhouse serves two 18-hole courses at the Fazenda Boa Vista leisure complex..Concrete encases the lower floor of the building, which is sunken into the sloping landscape, while the upper floor comprises a sequence of rooms and terraces with glass walls and a chunky timber frame..”

Architecture: World Building of the Year Winner Announced – World Architecture Festival 2012: “..World Architecture Festival 2012: the Cooled Conservatories designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects at the Gardens by the Bay tropical garden in Singapore have been awarded the World Building of the Year prize at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore..Completed earlier this year, the two shell-shaped structures are the largest climate-controlled greenhouses in the world and form part of Bay South, the largest and first to complete of three gardens at the 101-hectare site beside the marina in downtown Singapore..One of the conservatories accommodates flowers from Mediterranean regions, while the other is filled with tropical plants and a 30-metre-high man-made waterfall..” Rightly spectacular and lush..

Architecture: RIBA International Award Winners Announced: “..Following our previous announcement revealing the 2012 RIBA Award recipients, we now present to you 12 international projects that have also received top honors from RIBA. Buildings outside the European Union by RIBE Chartered Architects and RIBA International Fellows are eligible for this award. These 2012 RIBA International Award winners will now compete for the RIBA Lubetkin Prize – an award named in honor of the Georgia-born architect who worked in Paris before coming to London in the 1930s to establish the influential Tecton Group. In 2009, the RIBA Lubetkin Prize went to the National Stadium Beijing by Herzog & de Meuron [and Ai Weiwei] with China Architectural Design & Research Group and Arup Sport for National Stadium Company..” Includes photos of the 12 RIBA International Award-winning buildings..
